Gavin at School

Every Monday morning, the first thing Gavin does after dropping his coat and backpack off at his cubby, is to the block area to claim a huge space for some new big building. They are allowed to leave it up for the week and Friday at cleanup they take all their buildings down. He then adds to his building each day. It is fun to see what he comes up with each week and watch it evolve as the week goes on.

New Phone Test...

The boys were happy to help model for pictures using my new phone (my poor S3 had an unfortunate fall droping Gavin at school and since it was almost 3.5 years old, it was time to accept there was no way to fix it and I needed a new phone - that while I was sad to see my S3 unusuable, lead to a very pretty new Note 5). They decided on crazy faces. More to come, I promise.

Just slidin'...

Since Gavin is still on break from school, we have had a few super cold days (which means just short periods outside a couple times a day), and we have mostly avoided public germ situations after Dane being sick, we have gotten creative (thank you Pinterest) and found new ways to get energy out while inside. We have gone through our normal games, crafts, and energy users but we needed some new ones to get excited about. They have enjoyed jumping and crashing into their new bean bags and we keep finding fun new ways to enjoy them aside from just being a comfortable seat.

We had a big box they have been playing with and I came across an idea to turn stairs into a side. Well, it is a hit. They are having fun taking turns, going together, crashing, racing cars and trucks, and  just being crazy. A great use of something that otherwise would have just gone to the recycyle can. I have lots of days I feel uninspired, boring, and like we don't do enough fun silly stuff together, so having lots of days the last two weeks where we found new great ways for fun has been awesome. Plus, it makes us all get along better. I'm more patient and they have more (and longer) periods if getting along. Lots of fun all around!

Winter...

It has been a relatively mild winter so far, a welcome change given the last few years. The kids have been a little bummed to not have any snow yet. We had a day in December when we had some flurries but that was about it. So, they were excited by the flurries that accumulated to nothing more than a dusting, to play in. We have no idea what the next couple of months will bring since there is plenty of time for snow still, but we figured we should make the most of the little bit we have got!

Monster Trucks!

Gavin, Dane, and I are in PA for a visit and super lucky the Washington County Fair is currently happening! We were able to go tonight and the kids rode some rides, played some games, listened to some love music, ate a little dinner, and then went to the monster truck show! The boys were so excited, but hey, so was I!

It was so much fun. They loved seeing each truck take their turn and then each getting to race the others. It was really loud and very exciting to see how fast the trucks are. They loved the little smart car with the jet engine driving around mid-show as well. It was a great time and I am so glad we were able to go.

We made it!

We have arrived in PA and are already having fun! After unloading and dinner, we had to get the motorcycle going for Gavin. Then after a bit he decided to go for a swim. We are very excited and looking forward to lots of riding, swimming, playing, and visiting around PA!

Peaches!

Before we head to PA for a week and a half, we went to pick peaches with our friends. We love this particular farm. The owners are wonderful and I love supporting their farm. We usually make quite a few trips once they open in August each year. We love picking fruit, having lunch, playing in their village, visiting the animals, and taking home some fresh apple cider donuts as well! The peaches are so delicious! Although we are in no hurry for summer to be over, we are looking forward to many more trips for more peaches, apples, pumpkins, and fun!
